Bigfoot Reports - Comprehensive DMT

Postby Mangani » Mon Mar 06, 2006 11:55 am

This is the result of a long-term effort to geolocate reports of encounters with bigfoot / sasquatch creatures in North America using Topo USA.

The report draw objects include hyperlinks to the internet source of each report. Primary sources are national and regional research groups that compile and investigate these reports. There are multiple draw files to separate and view reports by source and type.

Reports are geolocated to the best of my ability based on the source information provided. Some locations are quite specific, but generally the margin of error radius is probably about 1 mile. If the location information is less specific the estimated margin of error is included. e.g., ~3mi, ~10mi, etc. Do not assume that a location is precise enough to apply to a particular property. Respect all property rights.

Additional notes and links can be found at my BigfootMaps page.

Although I have little interest in Bigfoot sightings, I did take a look at your attachment.
You've done a tremendous amount of work there and should be commended. :!: :!:
The symbol legend is a nice added touch.

All users of DeLorme mapping software should take a look at Mangani's work to see the type of projects that can be produced using multiple draw layers and web links.
    Word Usage Tip:
    * Loose (rhymes with Moose) means to release something.
    * Lose happens when you can't find something.
You let your dog loose, but you lose your keys.

    Note:

With the recent "upgrade" to the DeLorme Forums it appears I am no longer able to upload a file of greater than 2 MB size. Currently my bigfootreports.dmt is 3.2MB and continually growing. I have now mapped 6664 reports. If you would like me to be able to continue to post the complete file here please contact the forum administrators and petition for increasing the allowable file size. Otherwise I will have to discontinue posting the file here.

It appears from the download count that there are more than a few DeLorme customers utilizing this file. So it's possible that my efforts with this project might even have resulted in your purchasing a copy of DeLorme Topo USA. If that is the case, you might mention that fact.

Apparently the file attachment size limit I complained about in my previous post has been addressed. Thank you DeLorme and forum administrators. :)

However, it does appear that the capability to update/replace a file is no longer available. So it seems I will now have to post regular updates as "new" files. This means that the download count will no longer be cumulative as I delete the older versions.
