Options menue

Postby Wolly » Sun Jul 20, 2008 5:35 am

When I start the programme I got an error message telling me, that the computer I am using is not located in the US which may cause problems in the display (GPS). I am from Germany. All measures and indications are given in km (European).

When I try to change settings in the options tab, I cannot make any and I get an GPS error message: Invalid location. Could not recognize the Latitude text.

No changes are possible.

Any idea?

I will take a crack at your question. Do you have your computer set to use the German language? That might cause a problem.

This might be related to the problems:

Non-English Versions of Windows or Non-English Regional Settings

Tried to set the regional settings to Englis USA as recommended by this FAQ article.
I also get the message, that there might be problems finding places because of the regional settings, which is not English.

Perhaps after changing it, it will disappear.

When I try to work with the options menu, every click leads to the following error message:
Invalid location. Could not recognize the Latitude text.

No real chance to change this.

Are you using a comma (,) in place of a decimal point (.)?

Whereas the European method is to enter 34,23 the U.S. method uses 34.23. DeLorme software requires the latter.

It also may be necessary for the Windows Regional settings to be set to that too. You might try that and see if it works, then change it back. I remember a forum thread about this, but don't have time at the moment to search for it.
    Word Usage Tip:
    * Then refers to time.
    * Than is used for comparisons.
Turning the GPS receiver on first, then getting a fix, is much better than trying to do it the other way around.
