disappearing com ports

Does anyone know why the com ports that enable the bluetooth gps to work with delorme keep disappearing from the delorme program each time its shut down and restarted ? its com 7 and com 6 which just keep disappearing i can get them back and eventually use the gps but it often takes a half hr some times an hr.

Is the BT on during the Windows startup? If so, it probably is not being properly recognized. If this is the case, I would have the BT turned off until Windows is fully up, then start the BT, then start Topo.

If this is not the case, a Google search came up with a gaggle of suggestions including reg edits when looking at similar problems with printers.
