I'm new here- Question on BT20 and LT40

Postby GUSRENTIT » Wed Jul 15, 2009 1:15 pm

I'm ready to buy a package, but I'm torn between the BT20 and the LT40. What I really would like is a BT40, but it does not look like DeLorme makes one. How close are the specs on the BT20 VS the LT40? Can some one advice me? Thanks Much

LT-40 has a newer chipset, if I recall correctly. It has it's sensitivity and other specs listed.

The BT had an older chipset that, while competitive at the time, was not as good at pulling in signals...but you get away from wires (and have to keep it charged).

For occasional car use, I'd get the LT-40. Saves you the "charged battery" issue. YMMV

Both of Sanagan's statements are why I went with the LT-40. Better chipset and no batteries. I've been very happy. I have it on the dashboard with a baseball cap over it for keeping it somewhat hidden and somewhat protected from the sun. It still gets a 3d lock without a problem.
