Aircraft Interference?

Postby unknownbob » Fri Mar 27, 2009 9:13 am

I've been trying to use the BT-20 with SA-2008+ off and on for about a year and a half. I can get the Bluetooth coonnection to work fine using the standard MS Bluetooth stack. but in the middle of a route or when I'm just tracking, it will suddenly show me heading cross-country at 200 MPH and 25000 feet (just an example). Then it will suddenly change course and speed to something equally ridiculous. If I leave it, sometimes it will come back to Earth, sometimes it will just lose satelite fix and sit there.

I sent it back to Delorme (still under warranty) and they said it worked fine and sent it back - not even a replacement.

I've got to think that it is somehow getting fixed on aircraft signals - one time I watched a Blackhawk helicopter follow approximately the same track that was showing on my laptop.

I'd jsut use the USB connection, but I've never gotten that to work at all.

Has anyone seen this or have an idea what to try?

Goto the GPS tab
Click on the "Sat. Info" button
Check the DOP numbers.
Also, do you have a 2-D or 3-D fix (right side of tab)

If the PDOP value is > 8, then you aren't receiving very good satellite signals.

If possible, next time this happens, take a screenshot of the page and post. The page also shows Satellite signal strengths and position.
