BT-20 3 position switch

Postby RCTrego » Fri Jun 06, 2008 11:26 am

This I am sure is a very simply answered question but, The BT-20 I have has a 3 position switch on it. I cannot find out anywhere in the docs or on this site what each position is. I know completely to the left is off and the other two positions are ON but, are they the same or is there different positions for Bluetooth verses wired or what??

I don't own a BT-20, but found this on the forum, see if it helps...

I have Palm TX - and have found the same?! there is no difference between ON and MORE-ON  I have also experimented with the Bluetooth connection and the wired option and still no difference

I too found that I've had no problems connecting to my bluetooth devices when the power button is in the middle position, but when it is in the 2nd (far right) position it is inconsistent.

So since this was released, is there any chance a firmware update will permanently turn off the BT functionality for the far right switch position? I want to run it off of USB, and since it was dumb and drawing more than the full power even after the battery was fully charged, I now run it without the battery. The downside to that is that sometimes it takes a long long long time to get a lock from a cold start. I got rid of my older PN model, because this had waas and at the time the documentation indicated that it could be run as BT or USB. Meanng one or the other, not both at once!

Not sure about the latest firmware in the past year, but a really good friend of mine was able to use his BT-20 as a USB on the far right switch, he said he just had to click around a few times to disable to connectivity for Bluetooth. He was even successful if pulling all of his configuration files from a cloud service. Have you guys ever used rackspace servers to store mapping information? I'm going to give it a quick Google and see what I can't find out, I'll be back with you soon.
