Limiting GPL points

We need to have a way to not record GL points when not moving, or instead of recording every second record every 3 or 4 seconds. I routinely go from one place to another, stay at that one place for an hour or two then go to another place. I want to record and save the GPL, but I can have as many as 7,000 points recorded while I wasn't moving. Having that many points makes it mroe difficult to work with the file afterwards.

I have some software that will extract the data from the GPS, remove all the points if there are withing a certain distance of another point (20m or 50m), then save the filtered file and put it back into a GPL. Its a bit cumbersome. It would be nice if we could have a setting in Street Atlas/Topo USA that would limit the point recording.
