Also, how about an automatic update system.
1. If you deviate from the route, there is possibly a routing error. This will automatically be sent to delorme for a staff member to review. I run into it all the time, it says take I405 N, but here in Los Angeles, CA they have built 5x more freeways then they needed to so 405N and 405S have the same ramp and it doesn't calculate fast enough to tell you until you now are going the wrong way. The program will record the off route command, 500 gps bread crumbs, from and to location and check to see if there was a routing error. Or it could of just been an accident and they closed the road. It would act like an airplanes black box, it records the last half hour of data.
2. If you go off a road into empty land, have the program ask you "New Road" Y/N If yes, it draws the new road for you. Once you stop it will ask you what road name is this? [ name ] [ street/rd/blvd/cir ] [n/e/w/s/]. If you keep driving onto a road again and don't stop, it will say "We will ask you later regarding this road" Perhaps it is a new onramp to a freeway, but you can't stop to answer questions. This information is also sent to delorme for review the next time you connect to the internet.
3. Sometimes the numbers are way off base 2201 is 400 feet south than it should be, why not have a map pin to indicate the correct address where you place it. Like move the marker in maps.google.com. You have the ability to correct the address.
4. I also use Tom Tom for the 1 address route sometimes -> It has a programable speed area. It tells you the speed for that road, if it is wrong you can modify the speed data for that block or for the whole road you are on.
5. Freeways
5.a. There are some Highways in Los Angeles that are considered Freeways
5.b. Prime Freeway drivetime - automatically change for the time zone your computer is set to, to reduce freeway speed by 30 mph and let it route you accordingly. Example If the feeder road is 45 mph and the freeway speed drops from 55 to 35, it will automatically route you to use the feeder road instead because it is a faster routable road for the time periods of 6:30 am - 8am and 4pm - 6pm
