Ok here we are again,
I understand how to copy map objects to "Draw layers" but from what I can tell and have read it appears there is no way to convert or duplicate a "Draw layer" object to a "Track layer" object or "Routable road" object unless you create the layer object by using the appropiate draw tools and tracing or use a 3rd party app. In other words create a track from a draw line.
Is this correct?

I really though you had T6 already. You can't in T5 from what I remember, but you can take a T6 draw object and convert it to a draw/track file. It will either go into the currently active track file or create a new one. You can also copy a routeable road to a track layer, and copy/move a track to a routable road layer. It works as a routable road, but it must be connected to other roads in order to route beyond the one it creates, it doesn't happen automatically.

T6 added the ability (finally, I had been asking for this for years;>) to see exactly what objects are in a draw file. They even went way beyond what I wanted, and gave us the ability to copy or move individual objects. They even added right mouse menu options to do this. It's very powerful now with regards to manipulating individual objects and to even find them on the map. Often you do something and don't even know what or where it was. Now you can find any object in them, and do anything with it.

OK, Thanks Dan.
I do have T6 but have never been able to get it to work correctly. I keep getting Dirrect X errors. I can make adjustments to get rid of the error but it still does not display things correctly and also hoses up my ability to use Movie maker and play previously made files with Media player. Because I use a Garmin GPS, if I really want to create a track for uploading I do it with Mapsource. I use both of these products exclusively and each has it's forte. Heres something I just found in Mapsource that I don't think T6 has, and that's a utility to compress a long track into something smaller in a number of different ways. Why? Because some handhelds like the Rino limit the size of the track you can upload to 250 pts. For mapping I think Delorme has everyone else beat. For communicating and map navigating together Garmin has the lead with the Rino. Throw a walkie talkie on the PN20 and Delorme would have it all.
By the way during the PN20 testing there was discussion about cost of ADP etc. I was recently pointed to a freeware program called TopoFusion. Incredible what this little gem will do. Tracks display in colors repesenting speed or elevation, multi track playback, 3D rendering of all maps, free downloading of all maps...I think you would enjoy taking a look anyway. T6 will have to wait for a new PC at this time. I think that would be easier than trying to work out all the problems when T5 does what I need at this point.
Thanks again.

Tomski

I'm out of town and on a horrible connection.

Try Tips and Tricks; I had a post in there on how to import a track layer into a road layer. Try a an advanced search on my name and routeable road or something.

Hope this helps.
