Hello,
I don't think this is a vmware specific issue, but anything is possible. The pogram can't see the data on the DVD, causing the symptoms you describe. Here's a couple things to try.
First Step:
In the program, click on Map Files and then click File...New. This will reset everything and may display the maps.
Second Step:
In the Map Files tab, click on Add...Data Locations. Select the DVD-ROM drive and click Remove. Insert the Topo USA DVD Data disc in the DVD-ROM drive. Click the Add... button and select the DVD-ROM drive from the list (it should be labeled Topo5USADVD). Click OK and then click Done. If this doesn't do it, try the next step.
Third Step:
Standard Warning:
If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. DeLorme cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
1. Click Start...Run.
2. Type in Regedit.
3. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DeLorme\Topo5\SysPaths\VolumeData.
4. Check to make sure all the entries are in sequential order (0, 1, 2, etc). If not, rename the key name to reflect a sequential order.
5. Try the program again.
If this fails to correct the problem, go onto the next step.
Fourth Step:
Copy the DVD to a folder on your hard drive. If the copy fails, then you may have a bad DVD. If this is the case, send me a PM with your customer information. Otherwise, follow the proceedure in the second step but this time, select the folder that you copied the data to rather than the DVD-ROM drive.
If all this fails, then it may be a vmware issue and unfortunately isn't supported (but I hope this works).
Dan
