USB and Garmin 60CS

Postby clc1942 » Wed Aug 10, 2005 5:29 pm

I loaded service pack 2 and any time I start the GPS the program hangs and stops responding.

I have tried powering up the GPS before I start Topo and also after topo is up. Nothing works.

Since there is only one change, there are a couple of suggestions:

1. Reinstall SP2.

2. Uninstall and Reinstall Topo. You might have to re-link any data files you installed on your hard drive ( Map Files / Add / Data Locations)

3. Try using the Search link to see if anyone else had this problem.

I have T5 with SP2 and a Garmin, I haven't experienced this problem.

Standard Footer: When posting in the forum you need to remember this is NOT the official DeLorme support line, it's a peer support group (with occasional DeLorme intervention). This means users like me do *not* work for DeLorme, we provide support to each other. It is no one's job to answer your question, posts are replied to upon other individuals schedule and good graces. If an answer isn't presented here ask DeLorme Product Support. DeLorme can't fix things if you don't tell them; post REAL bugs/suggestions in the one spot they do look: Product suggestions.

I uninstalled Topo 5 and reinstalled it and put on service pack 2 and it still stops responding if I click start GPS.

What GPS settings are you using?

Is it plugged into a USB port, or a converter (if it's a converter, the port has to be set to com port, not USB).

Sorry, I'm just fishing because a number of folks have said their Garmin 60CS works fine with SP2.

Here's something else to try:
Download EasyGPS (when it locks up, it only takes a few seconds to kill and reload)

Make certain you have a good connection with your GPS--you can upload and download information to it.

Quit EasyGPS.

Start Topo 5 now that you have verified you have a good GPS connection and try again.

Service Pack 2 for Topo USA 5.0

Postby RonC » Mon Aug 22, 2005 1:29 pm

I downloaded Service Pack 2 and was able to download from my Garmin GPSmap 60CS with no prblem. It worked great. I still have a lot of learning on the use of the Garmin GPS and the Topo 5.0 as I've only had them for a few weeks. :D

service pack 1 broke my connection

Postby Nils » Sat Feb 21, 2009 5:15 pm

I had a reliable connection thru COM1. My GPS is a GARMIN 12 and does not communicate thru USB. I guess I should not have downloaded this service pack. How do I set it back?
