Importing Coordinates--> Formatting

Postby wjb » Fri Jan 16, 2009 8:42 pm

Hello, I was able to import a list of coordinates from a text file as a Map note. Now I want to change the formatting a bit. I am trying to list the following info: "Lat, Long, Call Sign, Name, Freq"

Ideally I would have Lat Long on a line, the Name and Call sign on a line, and a third line of freq's.

Is this even possible?

Thanks in advacne for any imput!

Try creating line breaks by using a semi-colon ( ; )
Code: Select all
BEGIN NOTE
35.090504,-116.939288,"N35.0905, W116.9393;KBAR;107.9 MHz"
END

Note that this works in Topo 7.
(I no longer have T5 loaded).

Thanks for the tip, using the semi-colon worked for creating an endline. Is there a document somewhere that details all of these command options?

    I really appreciate the Help!

Not to my knowledge. The way I figured it out was to create and save a Draw layer that had a MapNote with a couple of manual line breaks (created by holding Shift key and pressing Enter).

Then I used the Export function to save it as a text file.
Examination of the text file revealed the ( ; ) at the places where I'd manually forced the line breaks.

Finally, I created a text file with some ( ; ) and Imported it, and Topo placed the line breaks where I expected. Mystery solved.

Using the Export function is a great tool to learn how to to all kinds of tricks.

Here's my draw page that might help you:

      Here is DeLorme's

Note that some of this is in your F1 help files or user guide as well. These special pages, however, are very good guides. Hopefully they help you.
