Export Measurements - Editor Addition

Postby wcaver » Fri Jan 13, 2012 10:49 am

I have plotted a polygon. Within that polygon I drew line between points in various directions, like following a trail or path. I want to export the poly, and the measurements within. Different layers are okay. I learned how to export the poly, but I cannot find were to export the measured line with it various twist and turns and its measured distance.
Can you help me.

I don't think you are able to export measured lines but you should be able to covert the measurement line to a draw layer by clicking on the measurement and select Manage Draw and then Copy to Draw Object. Then you should be able to export along with the poly.

In what format are you exporting the poly? If you are exporting as a .shp file, you could create a new line layer, draw your lines, then have the dimensions of the lines show up in the attributes as well as on the map. Should you desire more instruction, just let me know.

There are a couple of way to accomplish this. It would help to know what you are going to do with the files. Are you going to send them to someone with another gis program? Are you going to send them to someone who has DeLorme Topo or XMap? Also, how do you want the dimensions to be displayed/read? I know, too many questions, but it will really help with the explanation.

I created a polygon using the "Draw" function.
The polygon has a color attribute.
Within each polgon I trace a "track or trail" using the "Measurement" tools

In the Project file, there are 122 such poly's.
I would like to change the "draw" files into shape files, (I don't know how to do that in Editor verision)
Additionally, I'd like to save the measurement track along with the distances I can turn them on/off within Xmap.
I don't necessarily need to email the files.
I hope that helps.
And
Thank you for taking time to offer assistance.
