Large MrSID file

Postby SebagoLakeRanch » Fri Aug 13, 2010 7:10 am

I downloaded a MrSID file that is an Ortho Imagery (Aerial Photo) of the county from the Maine GIS site. The problem is the file is 1.3 GB, it is very slow to use when I activate it. The computer takes several seconds any time I pan or try to draw something. Any ideas how to use this imagery and have my computer keep up?

If you haven't already, you should download and install the MrSid File Speed Within XMap® 7 patch. You can find it here. It will help a little, but not as much as you would like. Typically what I do is use the imagery from Netlink until I want to zoom in closer. At that point I turn on the MrSIDs.

That's exactly what I've been doing. Pain in the butt to use it to try to draw something though, computer can't keep up. Thanks anyway though.

I finally got around to trying out that patch, the re-draw is still a little slow but much faster then it was. I can actually use draw/measure tools now without a lag.
