Road names, stop navigation, mark current location

Postby cohack » Tue Jan 04, 2011 10:50 pm

I am a game warden and use street atlas primarily in rural areas. The problem I have is that the road names disappear too quickly when I zoom out. I get no road detail after about 11-0. I need detail further beyond that level. I like being able to route and find addresses with SA but find myself going back more and more to my old Garmin enRoute for day to day use. I don't understand why the road name labels would be restricted the way they are. I could understand if there were conflicts with other map details but even if it weren't so (and they aren't at well below 11-0) why would Delorme force that restriction on users? Also, I think the interface is horrible. I can't even find figure out how to stop navigation I and still haven't figured out how to mark a waypoint at my current location! There should be buttons for both of these functions. I find it hard to believe that a company of this standing in the GPS community hasn't done more testing with its interface to see what people need and use most.

The help facility keeps referring to a hand held device for some reason. Try to search the answers to these problems and you will see what I mean.

I would appreciate any help I could get.

Thanks

To stop navigation you can right click on the route and on the drop down list choose manage route. On the second drop down choose delete. I have my options set so that the program does not recalculate. With this setting if I leave my route it announces "off route" and I get no further navigation. For your waypoint question. I think you can use the keyboard shortcut "control + M" to place a waypoint at your current position. Sorry I have no help on the road labels problem. There is another discussion going on in the 2010 plus forum that you might keep your eye on.
Hope this helps some!!
