To stop navigation you can right click on the route and on the drop down list choose manage route. On the second drop down choose delete. I have my options set so that the program does not recalculate. With this setting if I leave my route it announces "off route" and I get no further navigation. For your waypoint question. I think you can use the keyboard shortcut "control + M" to place a waypoint at your current position. Sorry I have no help on the road labels problem. There is another discussion going on in the 2010 plus forum that you might keep your eye on.
