Using symbols without wpt003 designation

Postby chucksunder » Sat Jul 17, 2010 4:11 pm

Occasionaly I like to use symbols on my maps, i.e. house, X, etc. However, when I paste it to my map, it also includes a flag with wpt003 on it. How can I just paste the symbol without the wpt003 tag? Thank you.

Not sure you can, but try changing the font size to 1, making the label very small.

The features under the Draw Tab support both Symbols and Waypoints with a selection of symbols. If you can get by without waypoints, you should be able to print symbols without names easily.

John is right, don't confuse Waypoints with Symbols.
You used the term "Symbols" but described Waypoints.

When you place a Waypoint, it will always want to add text in the form of "wpt00x"
When you place a Symbol, it will give you a box for a "label" but if you just press Enter it will be blank and nothing will appear except the Symbol.

Here's the difference in selecting the two separate tools . . .

My tools looks different than yours. See attached screen shot. The only way I can get images like the X or arrow, etc is by clicking on the upper right box just above the "line" draw tool. I don't have the red flag icon you have for getting images. In order for me to get an image, I have to use the upper right icon as shown. Then I get the images I want, but I also get the wtp3 along with it. I think the key to my problem is that I don't have that red flag icon you have. Thank you.

Click and hold the Icon that is visible where Xapie drew the arrow! This is another semi-hidden feature.

Eureka ! I click and hold on the lower left icon (see my screen shot on last msg)....the red flag icon appears....and now I am able to paste images without the ##$%&&!! wtp3. Thank you very much. Problem solved.
