Error when istalling Street Atlas USA 2009 Plus in Windows 7

Postby grant » Sun Dec 20, 2009 12:46 pm

I just upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 from XP so I had to do a clean install. Now Street Atlas will not install. I get the following error message.

"Setup requires that Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable be installed. Please run Setup.exe to install prerequisites."

I reran setup.exe and that did not work so i went out and found Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable and installed that but Street Atlas still will not install.

I searched the forum and the web and find nothing on this. Any help would be appreciated.

SA2009 doesn't support Win 7. Upgrade to SA2010 which does. Some folks have gotten 2009 to work, but most haven't.

I just loaded Windows 7 yesterday. Windows 7 Pro, 64bit version. I clicked on the SA2009 setup application file, and got the same error. I closed the program and Windows confirmed that there was a problem and made adjustments, telling me to try again. I tried a 2nd time with the same error and adjustment notification. The 3rd time, the C++ files loaded, then SA2009 Plus loaded. I moved all my map data over from my XP drive and started SA2009. Everything in the program is working perfectly, just as it did on my XP operating system.

When I migrated to Windows 7 my 2005 version of Street Atlas stopped working. I recently purchased Street Atlas 2009 Plus. It came in the mail today and I installed it on my 32 bit version of Windows 7 without a glitch at all. Since I had no trouble at all I cannot address the problems others had, but for 15 bucks delivered it worked fine for me.

Just went through this. Had a Acer Laptop with 64 bit Windoze 7. Originally installed SA009 without a hitch. Charging circuit went bad and had to get a new Laptop. This time it wanted Visual C+++ 2005. Tried everything to no avail from the 64 bit version to x86 version. All failed.

Then I was looking on the install disk for SA2009. There is a directory "ISSetupPrerequisities". In that directory is a sub folder for Microsoft Visual C+++ Redistributable. In that directory is the install file vcredist_x86.exe. I don't know what the difference is, but once that is installed, SA2009 went in without a hitch. Have no idea what is the difference between it and the ones I downloaded from Mickysoft, but the one on the Delorme Disk worked for me. Hope this works for you. :D :D :D

I am having the same issue. Got the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 error, then tried DeLorme CD installer to no avail. Tried multiple times, and as administrator. No luck still.

Tech support said the software came out 1.5 years ago, and that it won't necessarily work with Windows 7. He said get the new version. That's disappointing. Short shelf life. Too bad ESRI has better products and we'll switch to them since they offer patches, and more knowledgable help.
