The website you point to is fine, but see this one for more poi files. http://www.poi-factory.com/poifiles/alpha As you can see there are many files that may be of interest. Yes they might need to be converted, but the the information is almost limitless. :o

LittleJoe POI Question

Postby Bains » Wed Aug 26, 2009 8:04 am

The Discovery RV folks have many POI files in ready to use form.

Unfortunately they do not have overlays that may meet everyone's needs.

My example was donuts. Others may want some brand of hotels while others may want all the locations of a particular type of church.

Custom POI files are as individual as the folks that use SA.

You posted the files while I was working on the one I posted

Looks like you are well on your way.

Here are some tips:
  • When Importing a comma delimited file, change it to .txt first, then use Draw tab -> Import button
  • Much more about text files can be learned here: http://www.delorme.com/support/supporttemplate.aspx?id=251
  • When you Import a text file, set your attributes (like like Draw object colors, text formatting, etc.) in StreetAtlas first, then Import and the object, text, etc. will show up as you'd selected
  • When loading a Draw file (.an1) use Map Files tab -> Add button
Ask any other questions if you have them.

I tried the link but could not find the template. Also how do you set the attributes when importing a file, when I did it it gives me no option for that under draw.

That's because DeLorme changed the links in their Support site since I posted that.
    Try this one: http://support.delorme.com/questions.php?questionid=93

You can set the symbol and the text, but you can't set things like line/circle/rectangle colors, font style or size, etc. That's been a constant request we've had, but never granted. If you choose a color or font attribute before you import then that's the attribute that will be used for everything from that import file.

There are a tricks you can use to accomplish what you need with less work (albeit still harder than just using something like "RED CIRCLE" or "GREEN CIRCLE"). If you can't figure out a way to do what you want, post a brief description of it and someone might have some hints to make it a little easier.

      xapie128,
Thanks for responding. I downloaded a poi file of ham radio repeaters in CSV format that gives lon, lat, location, frequency and PL tone/ID. I saved it as a .txt file and swapped the lon/ lat around and imported it as a draw into my poi. It displays a flag in the location of each repeater but nothing else. I would like it to also display the frequency and PL tone. When I imported it it gave me no options to do anything, it just asked the location of the file and imported it. I can't figure out how to make it display the freq and PL tone associated with the repeater. Do I need to import it a different way, I tried xdata but it doesn't seem to give me any real opitions either. Am I wanting too much?

Here's an example of how to do that . . .
      Code: Select all
      BEGIN SYMBOL
      34.9201,-117.0064,1120.5 MHz;Tone: 9,BLUE DOT
      34.9222,-117.0101,1130.5 MHz;Tone: 7,RED MAP PIN
      END

The semicolon ( ; ) between MHz and Tone is used to force the start of a new line.
